For High School Seniors:
Here we answer a few commonly asked questions, but as always feel free to let us know if you have others. We're more than happy to help...
What should I wear?
Wear what you love! Wear what you wear in real-life, or what you wish you could wear in real life! Check out fashion magazines, raid your friends' closets, go on a shopping spree or two. Bring a suitcase if you want!
Generally speaking, bright or deep colors and nice fabrics (not nubby or overly-washed) photograph best. Consider fabrics with a nice texture or sheen and colors that flatter your skin tone. Solid colors always work well, but trendy patterns can be equally great.
Most importantly, be true to yourself. We want to express YOUR style! You may want to vary your looks from super casual to a bit more fun or formal. Look through magazines or catalogs to get ideas of how outfits work together and bring tear-sheets if you want. You are more than welcome to bring along multiple outfits in a variety of styles and colors and we'll help you choose and style them at the session, matching the right look to the right background or location.
Don't forget accessories - things like sunglasses, scarves, jewelry, shoes & those killer boots can add just the right kick to your look.
How long will my session take?
It depends on how much fun we're having! Generally, sessions can last anywhere from one hour to three and a half hours. If you're shooting three looks for instance, allow about three hours. If you've requested a makeup artist, you'll want to allow an additional hour to any given shoot to enjoy the pampering and make sure we can change your look up in between outfits if you want.
What happens once my session is over?
When you've had enough of being a star for the day, we'll take a moment to book an image viewing appointment, which will take place about 10-14 days after your shoot. While you sit at home in great anticipation of your sure-to-be-fabulous images, we'll work hard at editing, color-correcting, and giving them that artistic "umph" that makes our images pop. About two to three days before your appointment, you'll receive an email with a link to your online gallery of images. You'll have a few days to look over them, stash some in your online favorites folder, email the gallery to friends and family, and let mom pick a favorite or two as well.
What's happens at the viewing appointment?
When you come to your appointment (with a parent in tow) we'll view and compare your images on a large color calibrated computer screen, finalize your favorites, and talk about what kind of portrait art you want to create from your faves. Placing your order at the appointment is convenient for most seniors and their parents, allowing a timely turnaround in receiving your prints, but if you decide you need more time, your online gallery will remain up for two additional weeks.
How long until I receive my prints?
Final portraits, wallets, and other prints are generally available within three weeks from your ordering time. Specialty products, such as coffee table style albums, collages, canvases, and other products will take approximately 4-8 weeks. In the meantime, we'll email you your two complimentary (photographer's choice) web sized images within about two weeks of your appointment, so you can get those up on myspace or facebook right away and show the world what you've got!
Do you offer a CD of pictures or sell digital images?
We definitely put a few of your faves up on facebook for you to share, post, & use as envy-worthy profile pics. However, to keep the integrity and quality of our work up, keep prices reasonable, and offer you the highest quality portrait art to display in your home and last in archival albums, we do not generally offer CDs of digital images with basic sessions. But with certain order minimums and custom collections, digital images may be included or available to purchase.
How is payment made?
Payment for your session is due at your session. Payment can be made by check, cash, or any major credit card. While we encourage parents to come enjoy the senior picture session with you, if you are coming to your shoot without a parent, please arrange to bring payment info along. A parent should be present at your viewing appointment, and payment for your portrait order is due at the time it is placed by the same means.
What if it rains on my session day?
If it's looking to be a rainy day, we can do one of three things:
1) Continue the session as planned, with the possibility of shooting only indoors, and crossing our fingers that it clears up for a portion of the time (which it often does). 2) Reschedule the session for another day. (Please note that it's not necessary to reschedule just for clouds). Or 3) get some killer umbrella shots. With a good attitude and a trendy umbrella, anything can happen. ;)
